Philips PM3S 3-Device Big Button Universal Remote Control
This Universal Remote was up to my expectations. I had no problems finding the codes for the tv and we get all the channels.

Good Accessory
I am enjoying the use of this on an old TV and, since hubby doesn't understand this new remote, I use it and he uses the old one on which the mute button doesn't work (now I have total control of the TV when I want LOL). Good price and excellent product!

didn't work
I have a Comcast cable box and an Olevia television. This remote after two hours could not be made to work.

Remote Control at Good Price
Good remote at good price. It works great with older and most new electronics. Thank You, my works great.

Nice and simple
I like this remote a lot. It's not bulky, it's simple, has all basic functions, easy setup, and couldn't ask for more.

instructions missing
I couldn't get this to work on my parents TV/VCR/DVD combo although the code was there. However, even if I had, there are NO instructions on how to USE the device, ie: record with the VCR, or play the DVD. People might say that remote controllers area all the same, and I probably could have figured it out, but for my 80 year old+ parents it would have been useless.
I would have rated it zero if I'd had the choice.

The company changed its great customer support
This company USED to have great customer support that made it simple to get their remotes working with your TV. You called, a human answered, a human who spoke English perfectly and knew what she was doing. The codes didn't work with my remote -- no problem, she beamed one to me over the telephone. After that the remote worked perfectly with my ancient TV.
So, when I needed a new remote, I bought another one from them.
Alas! They don't even have their phone number on their Web site anymore or even an email address. There is a form to fill out -- and they claim that they will get in touch with you if you submit it. But that doesn't work, either. Every time I tried to submit the form, I got the message that the server wasn't responding. I tried for several days.
I can't call them. I can't email them. The form doesn't work. The remote doesn't work.
This is too bad: I thought I had finally found an American company with great customer service. I don't know why they changed their policy, but they did -- and now, their customer service is like most computer companies' customer service: useless. No wonder our economy is in a mess!

not upgradeable remote
I got this remote about a month ago only to find out that it does not work with my Insignia DTV tuner. I contacted the company and they said that I need to purchase an upgradeable remote to make it work because this particular model does not have the code for my DTV tuner.

Excellent Product
Great Condition, Fast Delivery, Works with every remote in my house. It's also really easy to use and setup.

Big Button Remote Review
Items were exactly what my father wanted (has vision issues) and were received within just a few days. Will purchase from this seller again when needed.

Great replacement remote
Hi I purchased this because the remote for my Viewsonic 27" computer monitor slash tv stopped working. I had to practically force my thumb to the bottom of the remote to get it to work and even after a while that didnt work anymore so when I gave the tv to my neighbor I purchased this remote for her which also controls the cable box its great! It is also lightweight, very good looking, and easy to press buttons.

This remote controls everything!
I have used this remote for over six months. Every component I have tried has worked. From an xbox 360, to components that are over 10 years old. If you have the original remote, it will work. I had bought a Samsung hdtv tuner off of Ebay with no remote, hoping the Sony would work with that. The code that Sony supplied did not work. I had to buy the original remote, and program it manually, the Sony remote now works with that as well. It is large and has big buttons, but I have big hands so no problem. My wife, who has small hands, has never complained about the size of the remote. I buy chairs for comfort, not remotes! The only complaint I have is the component select buttons are lighted, but the other buttons are not lighted which is weird. For the money this is one of my favorite universals, and I have tried a bunch. I even have an expensive Kameleon remote, and I prefer the Sony hands down! I would buy this remote again in a heart beat!

Not as smart as I'd hoped
I know this unit is well regarded but I found it did not live up to expectations. I could not get the unit to operate my Sony CD-Player at all, and the so-called learning function was also hit or miss for me with several of my components. With my Sony amp for example, it did most of the functions, but mysteriously, there were a few key functions it would not do and would not 'learn'. All of my components are major brands, many Sony, and all are pretty recently built, most less than 2 years old. I was disappointed and returned the item.

Best Universal remote known to MAN or WOMAN
when I ordered this I accidentally ordered two.. well no big deal I'll just return the second one.. after setting up the first one there is NO way the second one is going back!!
I have a off brand DVD VCR combo recorder that wasn't listed in the book of codes..
guess what NO problem!!
set this remote to learn the other remote function.. hold that button down on the devices remote and bing!! done.. this remote now preforms that function on that device...
PLUS!!!
you can program SEVERAL devices under one device settings..
so the TV setting can control the TV
the DVD setting can control the DVD
but the AUX setting can be trained to control the TV your sound system and the cable box ALL under one device!!
you just have to remember what button does what
on mine under AUX I programed the volume controls to work the volume on my home theater system, the channel buttons control the channel on the cable box, and the STOP / PLAY buttons work on the DVD player!!
this is by far the easiest universal remote I have ever owned or had the PLEASURE of programing!!

Nearly perfect remote for under
If you're looking for a cheap universal remote that can actually learn commands, too, this one fits the bill!
This remote is shipped with codes for brand name components (Hitachi, Toshiba, Denon, etc.) and gives you the ability to easily learn commands for other types of components by simply pointing your device-specific remote at it and pressing a button.
The wonderful thing about this device is the amount of flexibility it gives you. For instance, you can set it while it's in its satellite or cable mode to control the television set's volume simply by learning the TV's volume commands in place of the volume commands of the satellite or cable functions. Also, you can have the remote learn how to automatically make the appropriate change on your receiver as you switch among components. So when you press the VCR button, it will switch your receiver to VCR mode and control your VCR.
Another great feature it has is an increased range, both in distance and wide-angle, as compared to your device-specific remotes. I can stand an additional 10 feet or so away from the device in comparison to the device-specific remote and the Sony remote will still be able to send it commands. With this remote, you can just point it in the general direction of your equipment and it should work.
Finally, the macro programming allows you to set up an activity with a single button. This is especially useful if you need to make an input selection every time you watch a video. For example, if you use the macro programming, you can set the remote to automatically turn on your TV and DVD, switch to VIDEO1 on your TV and then play the DVD by pressing your DVD button.
Now, why did I say that this remote is nearly perfect? Well, it does have several minor drawbacks and one major one.
Minor drawback #1 - You can't program the power button to operate a macro. So if you want to turn on your system with only one button, you'll have to use one of the generic buttons (the ones that are designated as A, B, C, or D). This tends to be more trouble than it's worth because it requires you to have to explain to your guests how to turn on your system or do it yourself.
Minor drawback #2 - There are buttons it really needs that aren't there. Some DVD buttons are missing and it may require that you use the generic buttons for those functions or you use the DVD specific remote for those functions. The one glaring function that's missing is an eject or open/close button for a DVD player or VCR.
Major drawback - The one thing that really keeps this remote from becoming a full-fledged home theater remote is the absence of back-lighting for its buttons. I am fortunate enough to have a true-blue, home theater (big projection screen, HD front projector, 5.1 Dolby/DTS AV processor with a separate 5 channel amplifier, totally dark room) with a Harmony remote that, at times, is overkill, but it's overkill with a viewable control screen and backlit buttons that can be read in the dark. If the Sony remote had backlighting, it could be a great home theater remote for consumer grade to moderate high end home theater systems, so Sony, if you're listening, upgrade this remote to have backlighting!
Overall, this remote's ability to learn codes and its intuitive, comfortable design make it a winner if you use it in a well to moderately lit room. I've bought another one to use in a vacation rental that has a Philips TV/DVD combo that simply doesn't have any corresponding codes in any universal remote I've tried. With the learning feature, I can set the remote to run the TV, its internal DVD player, and the cable box by swapping the TV's channel changing functions and replacing it with the cable box's channel functions, allowing our guests to change channels without giving the remote a second thought. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the beauty of this remote. Its flexibility and simplicity allow you to do away with the plethora of remotes and brings order and sanity to the problem of controlling your audio/video system.

Almost perfect, but couldn't give 4.7 stars
Setup was painless and easy to customize. If you can setup any of your basic equipment than the Harmony should be a piece of cake. I like that each individual event can be customized for entry and exit.
I am currently controlling a LG LCD, Cable DVR, Dolby 5.1 tuner, DVD player, VCR, XBOX360, Mac mini, and a PS3 (sort of, it runs off BT...). Most impressive is that it also replaces the Apple remote for Front Row or Boxee (awesome, btw).
I also was concerned about using any previously reprogrammed buttons, such as the 30 second skip on me Comcast DVR. The Harmony learned any special buttons with ease. Online setup is fairly straightforward. So much that I even set up the remote at my office, away from all the devices. Once I got home I tested everything, made a couple adjustments to my liking, and done! Guests at my house are so impressed with how simple it is to operate everything, I think I'll give a couple away as gifts.
All in all, a great product. I'll be buying more Logitech products in the future just because of this remote.

Awesome
I got my Harmony 880 setup last night, controlling my Samsung LCD, Motorola DVR, Xbox 360, Onkyo AV Receiver, and Macbook Pro. Setup was easy, and the activity system makes things easy for my lovely lady (why should she have to know what input the TV should be set to?).
Now that I can watch Netflix movies on my Xbox, I can use the remote to turn on my Xbox, navigate to the Netflix blade, and start watching..awesome.
I did not have the charger cradle problems described in other reviews...there seems to be a magnet in the cradle now that keeps the remote on the charging contacts.
Oh, and the remote software works on Mac 10.5!

Logitech Harmony 880 Universal Remote
I have purchased several universal remotes over the years with little satisfaction. The Logitech Harmony 880 is the easiest to program and the easiest to use. My wife for years could not figure out how to use the many electronic gadgets we have but the Logitech Harmony remote now has her very happy. Easy to program, easy to use. Fantastic product.

My second unit
This is my second unit. It like the functionality but there are serious issues with the base unit not charging the battery after the unit has been in use for a while. Before you purchase check the internet sites and you will see a lot of complaints regarding this problem.

Great Product!
This remote does exactly what it's supposed to do and is a huge improvement over the 550 series which I previously had. The rechargeable battery makes the price difference worthwhile. This remote is durable and very easily programmable. It is also laid out very nicely.
